Robotics

2017-2021

At Rogers High School, since the start of freshman year, I wanted to make sure I was best prepared for my future engineering career. Freshman year I joined the High School division SeaPerch Robotics. That year my team worked on and practiced with our R.O.V for months, in preparation for the regional competition. After our success at regionals we received citations from members of the Senate and the House of Representatives. At nationals, held at UMASS Dartmouth, we won second and third in the world, in two separate competitions. On my team I help build the R.O.Vs and their frames, controllers, motors and worked on the production of the engineering notebook. I enjoyed using the skills required to build the R.O.Vs like soldering, 3D design and knowledge of electrical circuits. This year we won regionals again and returned to the National competition again. Nationals this year was at the University of Maryland. We won second place overall out of nearly two-hundred teams and third in one of the courses. My team was honored by the Rhode Island Speaker of the House and Senate and was awarded a Newport Public Schools Certificate of Recognition for winning the competition.
